Hi, I'm Reed.
Before starting Good to Go, I led Dan Andrews' digital operation, and before that was a key part of Jacinda Ardern's groundbreaking digital team.
For both of them, the secret was to completely crush the cookie cutter politician voice.
I joined Jacinda’s team in the blissful pre-pandemic days of January 2020. Then everything changed. We kept New Zealanders updated on lockdowns and rules with very long, text-only posts - typos and all. Glossy photos were out, blurry snaps of
toast were in.
It broke every rule in the social media rule book, but it worked. The lesson? Authenticity is everything.
After being part of the historic 2020 New Zealand election campaign, I crossed the Tasman and joined Dan’s team. We told Victorians how we’d cut V/Line fares with a
Lion King meme. Level crossing removals got a
Spotify playlist (it’s worth a
listen), and
Storm the dog became a
sensation. We even managed to crack 5,000 likes for a
blank white graphic.
Posting like a politician doesn’t work. Being surprising does.
Before the Beehive and Spring St I worked with trade unions figuring out how to sign up members online. We challenged the idea that social media isn’t the real world, and took hundreds of workers from being Facebook followers to paid members. What happens online is absolutely real life.
I’ve been part of the most incredible teams - and now I can be part of yours.
